Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. This website aims to conform with WCAG 2.2 Level AAA, the highest published conformance level.
WCAG itself notes that Level AAA conformance cannot be achieved for some content. We therefore describe this as partial conformance with WCAG 2.2 AAA: the site meets all Level A and Level AA success criteria, substantial parts of the site meet AAA, and the remaining exceptions are listed under Known limitations below.
Measures we take
To support accessibility, we:
- build the site with semantic HTML and a logical heading hierarchy;
- maintain a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 for body text and 4.5:1 for large text (WCAG AAA);
- ensure every interactive element is operable with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus indicator that meets WCAG 2.4.13 (Focus Appearance);
- give standalone controls touch targets of at least 44 × 44 pixels (WCAG 2.5.5);
- provide a skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page;
- provide informative alternative text for meaningful images and mark decorative images so assistive technology can skip them;
- respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting and avoid motion that could trigger vestibular reactions; - use a fluid, responsive layout that supports browser zoom up to 400% and pinch-to-zoom on mobile;
- structure pages so that the source order matches the visual reading order;
- impose no time limits on reading or interaction.
Compatibility
The site is designed to work with current versions of the major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, and Opera) on desktop and mobile, and with assistive technologies including VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android), NVDA, JAWS, and the keyboard alone. The site may behave unexpectedly with browsers older than two major versions or with discontinued assistive technologies.
Technical specifications
Accessibility relies on the following technologies working in combination with the browser and any assistive technology installed on your device: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WAI-ARIA, and SVG.
Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. The following limitations concern Level AAA criteria only:
- Typographic presentation. Parts of the site favor editorial typography over some enhanced (Level AAA) guidelines for line length and line spacing — a deliberate design choice — and the compact reference lists conform to the minimum target-size requirement through WCAG’s inline-link exception. All text and links remain keyboard operable and enlarge with browser zoom, supported up to 400%.
- Plain language. The privacy policy and terms of service use legally precise wording that exceeds the plain-language reading level we aim for on editorial pages.
- Third-party documents. External resources we link to are outside our control and may not meet the same standards.

Assessment approach
We assess the accessibility of this website through a combination of:
- self-evaluation against WCAG 2.2 success criteria;
- automated testing using axe-core and Lighthouse;
- manual keyboard and screen-reader testing;
- periodic review during major content or template updates.
The site was most recently audited in August 2026. Automated scans with axe-core across every page reported zero violations at Levels A and AA and on the machine-testable AAA criteria, complemented by manual keyboard walkthroughs, focus-visibility checks, touch-target and typography measurement, and reflow testing at 320 CSS pixels. Findings from these audits are remedied promptly; the limitations listed above are the complete set that remains.
We review this statement annually and after significant template or content changes.
