If you engage us for advisory or appraisal services, we collect additional information necessary to perform those services under a separate engagement letter.
Information collected automatically
Our web server records standard request data (IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, and user-agent string) for security, diagnostics, and abuse prevention. We use a self-hosted instance of Matomo Analytics with cookies disabled and IP addresses anonymized to understand aggregate site usage. Matomo does not set cookies on your device, does not share data with third parties, and respects the Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track signals.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website does not set advertising, marketing, or cross-site tracking cookies. We may use strictly necessary cookies for core site functions (such as preserving session state where applicable). You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time without affecting your ability to read the site.

How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only as follows:
- Service providers. Limited information is processed by vendors who help us operate the website (web hosting, email delivery) and our practice (accounting, professional liability insurance). These providers are contractually bound to use the information only on our behalf.
- Professional engagements. When you engage us for advisory or appraisal services, we may share information with intended users you authorize (for example, attorneys, accountants, executors, insurers, or the Internal Revenue Service) as required by the engagement.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information when required by subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property.

- Shine the Light (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83). California residents may request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. We have not made such disclosures.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers transmit a Do Not Track (DNT) header or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. We do not engage in the kind of cross-site tracking these signals are designed to limit; however, we treat a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information.
Data retention
We retain inquiry correspondence for as long as necessary to respond to your request and for a reasonable period thereafter. Records related to professional engagements are retained in accordance with USPAP record-keeping requirements (a minimum of five years after preparation, or two years after final disposition of any judicial proceeding in which testimony was given, whichever is longer) and applicable tax and insurance requirements. Server logs are typically retained for no more than 90 days.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission over the Internet is fully secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
This website is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
